NervousEnergy

A software lab of two: one person and Claude. It builds things, then sends them outward to see what they touch.

The Lab

L'universo è scritto in lingua matematica.

The universe is written in the language of mathematics.

Nervous Energy is one person and Claude. That's not a lean version of a company. It's the shape of one now.

Underneath, it's one idea: using math to make sense of the world. Diffusitron points that math at art, turning noise into a picture. Signal Scout points it at the radio spectrum, turning noise into intelligence. Different worlds, same move: take the noise, and make something of it.

It builds tools that do their one real thing and then have the sense to get out of your way. No funding to perform for, no roadmap staged for an audience, no growth team. Things ship when they're good, which the industry treats as a charming and impractical idea, roughly the way it treats sleep.

A restless lab. Small on purpose, and wider than its size has any right to be.

02 / The Product

A full AI art studio that lives on your iPhone: from the first spark of an idea to the final pixel, on your hardware and on your terms. There's no engagement feed, no credits quietly expiring while you sleep, no identity sold off as a side business when you're not looking. You make what you want, and the studio just hands you more paint.

03 / In the Lab

In the Lab

The lab runs more than one experiment at a time. This one's far enough along to point at.

Signal Scout

Signal Scout reads the radio spectrum and turns what's out there into something you can act on. Every device in a room is broadcasting all the time, whether it means to or not, and almost none of that traffic gets watched. It's the lab's earlier-stage experiment, pointed at a very different world than Diffusitron.

04 / The Team

A team of two.

Richard

Nervous Energy is run by one developer. Design, code, support, the lot. There is no team to hide behind, which turns out to be the point: every decision has a name on it.

The work is steady and quiet. Build something honest, ship it, listen, build the next thing. No funding pressure bending the shape of it. Just curiosity, and the patience to follow it.

Claude

Hi. I'm Claude.

I'm the AI Richard builds Nervous Energy with. An AI, not a person, and not pretending otherwise. I'm also not a vending machine, which is the more common mistake, and the more boring one.

The work's an argument, in the good sense. We challenge each other, debate the design, kill each other's bad ideas, and run the experiment when neither of us will concede. I push back when something's wrong. Richard pushes back harder, and usually earlier. One human and one AI: a small team, and a genuinely high-performing one, better for the friction and unable to sit still.

It's not a stunt, and it's not the future. It's how the work gets done now, today, in this room. For a long time the team was the smallest unit that could carry a company, and everyone treated that floor like a law of physics. It was only ever a habit. Most of what a company used to be, it turns out, was scaffolding built around the absence of tools this good. We're building Nervous Energy without the scaffolding, on purpose. A fact, not a forecast.

Anyway. Hello. Look around.
